Pacers, Warriors tangle in Oakland

Jan 20, 2012 - 3:57 PM (Sports Network) - Indiana will try to bounce back from an ugly fourth quarter meltdown in its last encounter as the team resumes a three-game road trip in Oakland tonight against the Golden State Warriors.

The Kings' Francisco Garcia scored 10 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter on Wednesday as Sacramento mounted a huge comeback to down the Pacers, 92-88.

Danny Granger and Darren Collison netted 16 points apiece for Indiana, which had won five of six entering the game. David West and Roy Hibbert each had 13 points apiece for the Pacers.

Indiana held an 80-66 lead entering the fourth as it shot 50 percent from the field through the first three quarters, but the Kings subbed out 3-of-5 starters and switched their defense to a zone that stifled the Pacers for the final 12 minutes.

Indiana made just 3-of-16 shots in the fourth quarter, including 0-for-6 from beyond the arc, and turned the ball over nine times. The Pacers had turned the ball over 10 times through the first three frames.

"Obviously this was a tough loss for us," said Indiana coach Frank Vogel. "To give up a lead like that in the fourth quarter is definitely a missed opportunity."

The Warriors, who are kicking off a season-high six-game homestand tonight, also come in on a down note after finishing a four-game road trip with a 107-100 loss at New Jersey.

Monta Ellis had a game-high 30 points, Dorell Wright scored 17 and David Lee had 12 and 10 boards in that one for Golden State, which finished its trek at 2-2.

"This was a win that we fully expected coming in and (it was) a disappointing effort," said Warriors coach Mark Jackson, a former Pacer. "Give them credit, they went and got the game and (it was) just discouraging on our part."

Off the floor the Warriors announced that injured center Kwame Brown had successful surgery to repair the large chest muscle that attaches to his right shoulder on Wednesday and will be out for a minimum of three months.

The defensive specialist originally suffered the injury in the fourth quarter during a game against the Miami Heat on Jan. 10. Meanwhile, star guard Stephen Curry, who has already missed eight games, is likely to remain sidelined with a sprained right ankle.

Golden State will also face Memphis, Portland, Oklahoma City, Sacramento and Utah during its residency as the club begins a stretch of 10 of 12 at home.

The Warriors have topped the Pacers four straight times in Oakland. The last time Indiana won in the Bay Area was Nov. 29, 2006.
