Thunder shift focus to Clippers in LA

Jan 30, 2012 - 3:41 PM (Sports Network) - Oklahoma City faces a stern test tonight as the club faces off with a Clippers team that has been very good at Staples Center this season.

The Thunder come into tonight's contest with the NBA's best record at 16-3 and won the opener of a three-game road trip in Oakland on Friday when Kevin Durant's double-double of a season-high 37 points and 14 rebounds powered OKC to a 120-109 victory over the Golden State Warriors.

Russell Westbrook had a terrific all-around game with 28 points, 11 assists and seven steals for the Thunder, who have won four straight overall. Serge Ibaka also posted a double-double with a season-high 20 points and 12 rebounds, while James Harden contributed 19 points off the bench.

"Serge was big, the offensive rebounds and his baskets around the paint," Thunder coach Scott Brooks said. "He can guard small guys. That's the advantage that we do have. When we want to go with our big lineup, Serge can step out and guard smaller players because of his athletic ability and length he can cover three-point shooters."

Fellow defensive specialist Thabo Sefolosha sat out the second half against the Warriors with a sore right foot and is questionable for tonight.

Oklahoma City, which notched a season-high in points against the Warriors, is now 8-2 as the visitor on the season and will finish its trek in Dallas against the reigning NBA champions on Feb. 1.

The Clippers, meanwhile, are a solid 9-2 in Hollywood and are coming off just their second road win of the season, an impressive 109-105 win in Denver on Sunday.

Ex-Nugget Chauncey Billups scored a season-high 32 points in that one as Los Angeles rallied in the fourth quarter to earn the win. Chris Paul added 25 points, six rebounds and seven assists, and Blake Griffin netted 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in the Clippers' fourth win in six games.

"It's a good win for us because we had only had one road win on the season so far," Paul said about his team, which improved to 2-4 as the visitors this year. "So wins like this are huge for us and it gives us the confidence to know we can win outside out building."

These two clubs split four meetings a season ago with each holding serve on its home floor.
