Wizards visit ACC to take on Raptors
Feb 3, 2012 - 3:51 PM (Sports Network) - The Toronto Raptors try to avoid a third straight loss this evening when they welcome the woeful Washington Wizards north of the border to the Air Canada Centre. With star forward Andrea Bargnani sidelined with a calf injury, the Raptors were demolished by the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, falling 100-64.
"Boston came out, threw their haymaker, and we didn't respond," said Raptors coach Dwane Casey. "It was something that was disappointing."
The Raptors, who have lost nine of 10 with Bargnani out of the lineup, were paced by Jerryd Bayless' 14 points. Ed Davis added 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Bargnani will likely miss tonight's contest as well.
Washington, meanwhile, has also dropped two in row after Orlando scored 40 fourth quarter points to beat the Wizards, 109-103, on Wednesday. The 40 points were the most the Wiz have given up in any quarter all season.
Nick Young made 4-of-5 three-pointers en route to a game-high 24 points for the Wizards. Rashard Lewis contributed 20 points in Washington's eighth straight loss to the Magic.
"It hurts. To play that hard and for it to turn out like it did, it feels like they stole one," Jordan Crawford said.
John Wall was a mere 1-for-12 from the floor and finished with a career-low two points in the loss for the Wizards, who fell to 4-47 on the road since the beginning of last season.
"I told our guys we can't stop playing as hard as we do," interim coach Randy Wittman said. "We've got nine guys under rookie contracts. Right now they're not getting the respect. That'll come."
One of Washington's four wins this season came against the Raptors back on January 10. The teams, though, have split the last six matchups.
