Wizards pay a visit to Jazz

Feb 17, 2012 - 4:00 PM (Sports Network) - Washington will resume a five-game road trip on Friday against the Utah Jazz at EnergySolutions Arena.

After winning during the first two stops on their trip against the Pistons and Blazers, the Wizards were tripped up by the Clippers in LA on Wednesday, 102-84.

John Wall had 18 points and 12 assists to lead Washington while JaVale McGee also scored 18, but the Wizards had their first winning streak of the season snapped.

Washington was trying to win three in a row for the first time since April 1-5 last season, but shot under 40 percent and trailed by as many as 20 points.

"We couldn't hit a shot," said Wizards coach Randy Wittman. "This wasn't an 18-point game, we just ran out of gas."

The Wizards, who fell to 3-11 on the road this season, will finish their trek in Phoenix on Feb. 20.

The Jazz, meanwhile, finished a tough three games in three nights stretch on the road by dropping their second straight contest in Oklahoma City on Tuesday, losing to the Thunder 111-85.

Al Jefferson scored 15 and Paul Millsap posted 10 points and eight rebounds for the Jazz, who lost their fifth game in six tries. They finished the back- to-back-to-back at 1-2, winning at Memphis before losing in New Orleans and OKC.

Oklahoma City shot 54.5 percent from the field on Tuesday, while holding Utah to just 35.6 percent.

"We're at our best when we're playing defense and making them take tough shots," said Thunder head coach Scott Brooks.

Utah has been a much better team at home, compiling an 11-5 mark in Salt Lake City.

"We can't panic," Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said earlier this week. "We are fortunate that we had a good run early. We have an idea of who that should be, we've just got to get back to doing that."

Washington swept the home-and-home season series with Utah a year ago, but is winless (0-7) on Friday nights this season.
