Woeful Wizards tangle with bumbling Bucks

Feb 28, 2012 - 3:50 PM (Sports Network) - Two teams hoping for better results in the second half of the NBA season clash tonight in Brew City, as the Milwaukee Bucks take on the Washington Wizards from the Bradley Center.

The Bucks have lost six in a row at home and are 7-8 as the host this season. Surprisingly, they are just 2 1/2 games out of the eighth and final postseason spot in the East, but have dropped nine of 12 games overall, including last Wednesday's 110-91 setback at Chicago.

Brandon Jennings ended with 20 points and five assists, while Ersan Ilyasova and Jon Leuer had 15 and 14 points, respectively, in defeat for Milwaukee, which played without forwards Drew Gooden (wrist/knee) and Tobias Harris (shoulder) and guard Stephen Jackson (hamstring). All three are questionable for tonight and guard Mike Dunleavy (ankle/finger) is probable. Dunleavy needs four rebounds for 3,000 in his career.

"I'm not going to lie," Jennings said on the club's website. "I'm frustrated. I want to win. We all want to win."

Milwaukee has been held under 100 points in seven straight games -- the longest stretch of sub-100 outings this season. It is 10-3 this season when reaching the century mark in scoring.

The Bucks will begin a three-game road trip Wednesday against Boston, Atlanta and Orlando.

Washington is mired in a four-game losing streak and has dropped 10 of its last 13 games, including last Wednesday's 115-107 setback versus Sacramento. Jordan Crawford had a season-best 32 points and John Wall finished with 21 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds for the Wizards.

"There wasn't anything in the second half that was done to win the game," said Wizards coach Randy Wittman.

Crawford became the first Wizard to score 21 points in the first half of a game since Tracy Murray posted 23 points off the bench for Washington back on April 15, 1998 versus Cleveland. Wall is averaging 18.8 points, 8.0 assists and 5.5 rebounds over the previous 22 games.

Wittman's club is well rested after the break and looks to put the breaks on a three-game road losing streak. The Wizards are just 3-13 away from the Verizon Center, where they will begin a five-game homestand later this week. The Magic, Cavaliers, Warriors, Lakers and Trail Blazers are slated to visit D.C.

The Wizards dropped a 102-81 decision at Milwaukee on Dec. 30 this season and have lost five of six and 10 of the past 14 meetings between the teams. Washington has dropped three in a row and nine of 12 trips to the Bradley Center. Milwaukee's last home win was versus Miami on Feb. 1.

The two teams will meet again on April 2nd and April 18th in Washington.
