Gasol, Conley lead Grizzlies over Mavs

Mar 1, 2012 - 7:27 AM Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Marc Gasol and Mike Conley both had a double- double on Wednesday, leading the Grizzlies to a 96-85 win over the Mavericks.

Gasol had 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Conley finished with 20 and 10 assists for the Grizzlies, who have won two straight and eight of their last 10. Rudy Gay added 18 points and seven rebounds.

The Mavericks were coming off of Tuesday's 93-92 loss to the Nets and have lost three in a row and four of five overall. They had Dirk Nowitzki for just 10 minutes on Wednesday before he left with lower back tightness.

Jason Terry scored a team-high 18 points in the setback, while Rodrigue Beaubois had 16 and Brendan Haywood chipped in 10.

The Grizzlies were up 69-67 late in the third quarter when they reeled off a 13-0 run to grab a decisive advantage.

"We struggled to keep them from putting the ball in the basket," said Dallas head coach Rick Carlisle.

The burst began with a layup from Dante Cunningham and stretched into the fourth quarter, where Gasol had back-to-back buckets and a Marreese Speights made a layup for an 82-67 lead.

Jason Kidd and Terry responded with consecutive three-pointers to make it 82-73 and the Mavericks later cut the deficit to 86-79 on Terry's short fadeaway with three minutes to play.

They would get no closer, however, as Gay and Tony Allen answered with back- to-back buckets to put the game away.

"We got stops," said Gasol. "We did a good job on [the defensive] end. We were able to run and get easy buckets."

Earlier, Gay and Gasol scored six points apiece in the first, as the Grizzlies jumped out to a 25-17 lead. Nowitzki, who finished with just one point, departed in the second, but the Mavericks got 12 points from Beaubois en route to a 49-47 lead at the break.

Game Notes

The Grizzles have won five straight at home and are 14-5 at FedEx Forum on the season...Memphis power forward Zach Randolph, who has missed the last 31 games with a torn MCL in his right knee, participated in the non-contact portion of Monday's practice and should return soon.
