Thunder aim for a win in Orlando

Mar 1, 2012 - 3:40 PM (Sports Network) - Oklahoma City will try to match a season high with its seventh consecutive win Thursday night and record the franchise's first road victory against the Magic since 2004.

Since relocating from Seattle the NBA-best Thunder (28-7) have won in every NBA city except one, Orlando.

OKC returned from the All-Star break on Wednesday in Philadelphia and overcame a lackluster performance by dominating in the final five minutes to edge the 76ers, 92-88.

Kevin Durant, fresh off his MVP performance in Sunday's All-Star Game, scored 23 points in that one but fellow All-Star Russell Westbrook really dominated with 22 points and a season-high 13 rebounds -- seven offensive -- for the Thunder, who closed the game on a 15-4 run to win their sixth straight.

"Westbrook really hurt us on the offensive boards," said Philadelphia coach Doug Collins. "We talked about that going into the game. That guy is a little pit bull and you have to play all 24 seconds of the clock with him."

James Harden added 16 points off the bench and Serge Ibaka contributed 10 for Oklahoma City, which has won eight of nine overall and improved to 13-6 on the road.

"We have a team full of competitors that really do a great job of getting into the ball and getting into the man and making them miss shots," said Thunder coach Scott Brooks.

The Magic also started the second half on a winning note, taking care of business against the lowly Wizards, 102-95, in the nation's capital on Wednesday.

Ryan Anderson scored 23 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to lead Orlando in that one.

The Magic had seven players in double figures, including Jason Richardson, Jameer Nelson, and Glen Davis, who all contributed 12 points. J.J. Redick added 15 and Dwight Howard had a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards to give Orlando its ninth-straight victory over Washington.

Three-point shooting was the key for the Magic as they drained 15-of-36 from long range to improve to 16-1 when scoring over 100 points.

"That's what we do. We can really stretch the court and obviously when we have Dwight get double-teamed and attract so much attention, that really leaves us open," said Anderson about his team's three-point barrage. "We did a great job of taking advantage of that."

The Thunder franchise has lost seven straight in Central Florida, four as the Seattle SuperSonics and the last three since moving to OKC. The team hasn't tasted victory in the Magic Kingdom since March 13, 2004.
