Spurs roll over Bobcats

Mar 3, 2012 - 5:31 AM San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Tony Parker had 15 points, four assists and three steals as the San Antonio Spurs rolled over the Charlotte Bobcats, 102-72, at AT&T Center.

Richard Jefferson and Matt Bonner each went 4-for-6 from three-point range and scored 14 points for the Spurs, who won for the second time in three games. Tim Duncan also netted 14 points as San Antonio improved to 14-2 at home this season.

Corey Maggette and Boris Diaw scored 14 points apiece to pace the Bobcats, who shot just 37.3 percent from the floor to drop their fourth straight game and fall to 1-20 over their last 21 contests.

"We have got to be a better shooting team," Maggette said. "When you're playing one of the best teams in the league and you're shooting 30-plus percent, it's hard for anybody to win."

Charlotte opened the game with a 7-2 run to take the early lead, but the Spurs responded with a Jefferson three-pointer followed by a DeJuan Blair layup to knot the contest.

Diaw's trey put the Bobcats back on top and they didn't trail until a 15-2 spurt by San Antonio put the Spurs ahead, 27-18, with 1:33 remaining in the opening frame. Parker recorded the final eight points in the swing that put the Spurs ahead for good.

San Antonio held a 29-20 advantage at the end of the first and had a 40-29 lead four minutes into the second before the Bobcats reeled off an 8-1 run to close the gap to four, 41-37.

The Spurs, though, scored 10 of the final 14 points of the half to take a 51-41 lead into the break.

The Bobcats trailed by single digits only once in the second half, when Maggette netted five points in a 10-2 run to cut Charlotte's deficit to 64-55.

But Gary Neal regained the Spurs' double-digit lead with three-pointer that sparked a 10-4 swing San Antonio used to take a 74-59 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Bobcats never got closer than 13 points in the final stanza.

"In the first half, I thought we could have played better. We had a lot of tough turnovers and tough breaks, but in the second half we play a lot better," said Parker. "It was a good win for us and now we have to focus on the next one."
