Warriors finish up road trip in Washington

Mar 5, 2012 - 3:41 PM (Sports Network) - The Golden State Warriors aim to end a season-high six-game road trip on a positive note when they take on the Washington Wizards tonight at the Verizon Center.

The road trip hasn't treated the Warriors so kindly, as they are 2-3 through the first five games and suffered an 83-75 loss at Toronto on Sunday. David Lee led Golden State with 22 points and 12 rebounds -- his 19th double-double of the season -- and Monta Ellis scored 20.

"Four games in a row we've had bad third quarters. We knew that coming in and talked about it at halftime," said Warriors head coach Mark Jackson. "We were thoroughly outplayed. We did nothing offensively and then you have to keep fighting back in the fourth quarter and you can't keep doing that. It was a bad loss."

Lee posted his third 20-10 performance in as many games for the Warriors, who are 5-11 away from Oakland this season and have lost six of nine overall. Guard Stephen Curry missed his second straight and third in four games because of an ankle problem and could be sidelined again tonight.

Curry is averaging 15.7 points and 6.0 assists this season.

Washington finally picked up a much-needed win with Saturday's 101-98 triumph over Cleveland in the continuation of a five-game homestand.

Jordan Crawford netted 31 points on 13-of-22 shooting and John Wall added 24, five assists and five rebounds for the Wizards, who ended a six-game losing streak and evened their mark on the residency at 1-1.

"It was big. A six-game losing streak, we needed to end it," said Crawford after the game. "I just wanted to go out and be aggressive. We did the things we needed to do, got stops, got rebounds. It was good for us."

Roger Mason Jr. added 11 points off the bench to help Washington end a four- game losing streak in the nation's capital. Andray Blatche returned after a 15-game absence due to a strained left calf and finished with nine rebounds and five assists, but only one point.

The Wizards will also welcome the Lakers and Blazers to D.C. They are just 2-9 against the West this season, losing four in a row to teams from the conference. Crawford is averaging 16.3 points per game in four starts this season, while Blatche is three points shy of 4,000 in his career.

Wall has averages of 19.6 points, 8.0 assists and 5.4 rebounds in the previous 24 games. He is posting 25.3 points, 8.0 assists and 4.3 rebounds in three games since the All-Star break.

Washington and Golden State are meeting for the first time since the Warriors swept a home-and-home set last year. The Warriors are just 5-10 in the previous 15 matchups at the Verizon Center.
