Mar 7, 2012 - 3:51 PM (Sports Network) - The streaking Memphis Grizzlies shoot for a fifth straight win tonight when they kick off a three-game road trip in Oakland against the Golden State Warriors. The Grizzlies' latest win came on Beale Street vs. the lowly Pistons on Saturday. All-Star Marc Gasol scored 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead seven Memphis players in double figures, and the Grizzlies exploded for a 31-point fourth quarter to defeat Detroit, 100-83.
Mike Conley contributed a double-double with 10 points and 12 assists, O.J. Mayo netted 17 points off the bench, Marreese Speights added 16, and Rudy Gay posted 15 for Memphis, which has won eight of nine overall to jump up to fifth in the Western Conference playoff hunt.
Quincy Pondexter's 12 points and Tony Allen's 11 rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Grizzlies, who received 10 or more from all five starters.
"We've been in a groove and we've been playing good," said Memphis coach Lionel Hollins. "We just have to continue to play and continue to attack and continue to make the plays that are winning plays, and we've done that."
The Warriors, meanwhile, are returning to the Bay Area after a 3-3 road trip that finished up on a winning note in the nation's capital on Monday. Monta Ellis poured in 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting and dished out eight assists in that one, as Golden State thumped the Wizards, 120-100.
Klay Thompson drained four three-pointers en route to 18 points and Ekpe Udoh donated 17 points and six rebounds for the Warriors.
David Lee contributed a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Stephen Curry and Brandon Rush rounded out the Warriors' double-figure scorers with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
"There's no secret to winning is this league as long as you put in the effort," Warriors head coach Marc Jackson said. "We made shots inside and outside, we defended and paid attention to the script. This was a much-needed win for us."
Memphis has won four straight over Golden State, including a 91-90 thriller in Oakland back on Jan. 23. The Grizz trailed by 20 in the third quarter of that one before rallying with a 39-22 fourth to take it.
