Cavs stop streaking Thunder

Mar 10, 2012 - 6:27 AM Oklahoma City, OK (Sports Network) - Kyrie Irving didn't have his best shooting night from the floor, but his offense down the stretch helped the Cleveland Cavaliers snap Oklahoma City's 14-game home winning streak with a 96-90 win over the Thunder.

Irving scored five of his nine points in the final three minutes for Cleveland, which used a 12-0 run to put the game away.

Irving also added 12 assists, six rebounds and three steals while Antawn Jamison added 21 points and eight boards for the Cavaliers, who outrebounded the Thunder 21-8 on the offensive glass.

"Shots that I normally make were not falling, but that's okay," said Irving. "I trusted my teammates down the stretch and they hit a lot of shots and made my job a lot easier."

Kevin Durant scored 23 points to go with eight rebounds and eight assists for the Thunder, who were 6-of-24 from beyond the arc. Oklahoma City had won nine of its last 10 contests coming in. Russell Westbrook netted 19 points.

Trailing 85-82 with 3:14 left, Anthony Parker began the 12-0 surge with a jumper.

Irving took over from there.

Back-to-back driving layups followed by his feed to Jamison for a layup made it 90-85 in favor of Cleveland with 1:08 left.

Westbrook missed a jumper at the other end and Irving went up high to snatch the rebound. He made 1-of-2 foul shots to put the Cavs up by six.

Durant, who was just 1-of-7 from three-point range, missed a trey on Oklahoma City's next trip up the floor.

Daniel Gibson made two from the line and after Westbrook's missed layup, Parker capped the burst with a free throw, giving Cleveland its largest lead of the contest, 94-85, with 44 seconds remaining.

"I think you have to give Cleveland a lot of credit," Thunder head coach Scott Brooks said. "They came in with a great game plan and executed it very well. We were a step slow."

It was a tightly contested opening half. The Thunder led, 27-26 after one and 51-49 heading into the break. Durant and Westbrook netted 11 points apiece for the Thunder.

Cleveland shot just 28 percent in the third, but snatched seven offensive rebounds in the period as the game was tied at 69 heading into the final frame.

Game Notes

Serge Ibaka had 13 points, seven rebounds and six blocks while James Harden poured in 15 points off the bench for Oklahoma City...Parker had 14 points...There was 21 ties and 20 lead changes in the contest.
