Rockets hope to snap skid in New Jersey

Mar 10, 2012 - 3:41 PM (Sports Network) - Things are looking bleak for the Houston Rockets.

The Rockets have lost a season-high five straight games and will be without starting point guard Kyle Lowry when they resume a five-game road trip in New Jersey.

Lowry was checked into a local New York hospital Thursday with a fever and abdominal distress and said on Twitter that he would be "out of commission for a while."

The Villanova product is second on the Rockets in scoring at 15.9 points per game and leads the club with 7.2 assists.

Houston, which will be aiming for its 11th straight win over the Nets, fell to 0-2 on their trek Wednesday in Toronto, losing to the Raptors 116-98.

Chandler Parsons had 19 points to lead the Rockets, who have lost the five in a row after a four-game winning streak. Lowry had 16 points while Samuel Dalembert and Goran Dragic each had 14 points.

"Terrible game, everything we did we were a step slow," Rockets head coach Kevin McHale said. "...We didn't have any defensive flow, any defensive formation."

Dragic will take over the Houston offense in Lowry's absence as the team tries to avoid its first six-game skid since Nov. 13-23, 2007.

About the only think working in the Rockets' favor tonight is the fact that New Jersey could also be without its point guard.

Deron Williams left in the second quarter of the Nets' 83-74 win at Charlotte on Friday with a sore right calf and will be a game-time decision tonight.

Kris Humphries had 20 points and 15 rebounds against the Bobcats, while Anthony Morrow scored all 17 of his points in the fourth quarter for the Nets, who have won two straight.

"It was one of those grind out games," Morrow said afterwards. "Obviously offense was needed so I was just trying to do what I can and do my part to come in and play solid defense, get some rebounds, and score the ball."
