Suns stay hot, down Grizzlies

Mar 11, 2012 - 7:45 AM Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Jared Dudley scored 19 points and the Suns downed the Grizzlies, 98-91, on Saturday.

Marcin Gortat added 15 points and nine rebounds, Grant Hill scored 14 and Steve Nash had 11 and 15 assists for the Suns, who have won five straight at home and seven of nine overall.

"That one felt good. We beat a really good team that is probably playing as well as anyone in the league right now," said Suns coach Alvin Gentry.

Marc Gasol finished with 21 points, eight rebounds and five assists while Rudy Gay scored 19 for the Grizzles. They had won five straight entering Saturday.

"They started hitting shots, they got out on the fast break and basically just scored off our mistakes; we made a lot of them so they had a lot of chances to score," remarked Gay after the loss.

Memphis was up, 29-26, after one and saw its lead stretch to 46-35 in the second before Phoenix closed the quarter on an 18-5 run to take a 53-51 lead into the break. Dudley scored nine straight during the burst.

The Suns continued to surge in the second half, outscoring the Grizzlies 27-23 in the third behind six points from Channing Frye to take an 80-74 lead into the fourth.

The Grizzlies pulled within four, 85-81, in the fourth, but a pull-up jumper from Hill sparked a 6-0 run, which pushed the advantage back to double-digits, 91-81.

Memphis didn't threaten the rest of the way.
