Clippers return home, face off with Warriors
Mar 11, 2012 - 3:15 PM (Sports Network) - The Pacific Division-leading Clippers will kick off a six- game homestand against in-state rival Golden State. The Clips just finished a six-game trek at 3-3 but capped it with one of their biggest road wins in years on Friday. Mo Williams connected on 7-of-9 three- point attempts en route to a season-high 33 points as Los Angeles beat the Spurs in San Antonio for the first time in a decade with a 120-108 triumph at AT&T Center.
"It happens in the NBA," remarked Williams about his stellar performance. "You're going to have your nights. You just have to take these just like you take the bad ones, forget about it and move on to the next game."
Chris Paul also recorded a season-high 36 points with 11 assists for the Clippers, who had not won in San Antonio since January 31, 2002, snapping a 17-game losing streak.
Blake Griffin added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Clips, who are percentage points ahead of the Lakers in the Pacific.
The Clippers, who are 12-5 as the host at Staples Center this season, will also face Boston, Atlanta, Phoenix, Houston and Detroit, on their residency.
The Warriors, meanwhile, are coming in after a 111-87 blowout win over Dallas on Saturday. David Lee scored 25 points and pulled down nine rebounds in that one as Golden State cruised.
Nate Robinson netted 21 and Monta Ellis added 20 points and eight assists for the Warriors, who set a season-high with 17 steals and held the Mavericks to 28 made fields goals.
"We started off the game and took control of it," said Warriors head coach Mark Jackson about his team's quick start. "We forced the pace, forced the tempo and we followed the gameplan defensively and I thought it was a total team effort."
Star guard Stephen Curry aggravated a right ankle injury during the third quarter against Dallas but it's being called a mild sprain by the team and he has been listed as probable for tonight.
"I probably could have gone in and played," Curry told the Contra Costa Times, "but we had the game under control at that point, and knowing we have a game tomorrow in L.A., I had to keep that in mind."
The Clippers have won three straight and 11 of 14 over the Warriors in LA.
