Bucks beat Nets for 10th straight time

Mar 13, 2012 - 7:41 AM Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - Brandon Jennings scored 18 of his 34 points in the second half and the Milwaukee Bucks beat the New Jersey Nets for the 10th straight time Monday, 105-99.

Drew Gooden had 15 of his 23 points after halftime, with Milwaukee able to overcome a slow start to remain undefeated against New Jersey for more than three years.

For the Nets, a career game from Kris Humphries wasn't enough to overcome the absence of star point guard Deron Williams, who sat out his second straight game because of a strained right calf.

Humphries had a double-double by halftime and finished with a career-high 31 points and 18 rebounds, but New Jersey fell to 0-2 on a three-game homestand.

"Humphries had big numbers tonight," said Nets coach Avery Johnson. "I wish we could have won."

New Jersey hasn't beaten Milwaukee since March 3, 2009.

Things fell apart in the second half after the Nets carried a seven-point lead into the break. They turned the ball over nine times in the third quarter and saw a nine-point lead erased in the last minute and a half by a 9-0 Milwaukee run led by Mike Dunleavy and Beno Udrih.

Jennings' three-pointer to open the fourth quarter gave the Bucks their first lead of the game and they never trailed after that. Their lead ballooned as high as 10 down the stretch.

Earlier, the Nets had led by as many as 12.

"We just didn't come out of the locker room after halftime with the right focus," said Johnson.

Humphries had matched his previous career high of 25 points Jan. 7 in a loss to Miami. He had 13 points and six rebounds in the first quarter, sparking the Nets to a 32-27 lead at the buzzer, and his first half double-double was 21 points and 10 boards.

Two of his points came on a coast-to-coast dunk that gave New Jersey a 46-36 lead with 7 1/2 minutes to play in the second quarter. They had a 54-47 edge at halftime.

"We went to our small lineup at the end of the third quarter and caught up right away," Bucks head coach Scott Skiles said. "We were able to get Drew (Gooden) a blow during that period of time and ultimately get him back in. Our smalls deserve a lot of credit. Brandon was really good."

Game Notes

Williams went out in the second quarter of Friday's win at Charlotte and sat for Saturday's loss to Houston with the injury. He is day-to-day. Jordan Farmar started in his place and had 17 points. Anthony Morrow also scored 17 off the bench for the Nets...Bucks forward Ersan Ilyasova, who was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week earlier Monday, scored just four points. Dunleavy and Udrih had 15 points apiece for Milwaukee off the bench.
