Slumping Pacers home to rebound against Blazers
Mar 13, 2012 - 2:51 PM (Sports Network) - Mired in a nagging four-game losing streak, the Indiana Pacers hope a return home will settle their recent woes. The Pacers are scheduled to play two straight and four of five games at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and will entertain the Portland Trail Blazers tonight. The losing trend continued for the Pacers with Sunday's 107-94 loss at Orlando, as Paul George led the way with 22 points and eight rebounds.
Danny Granger netted 18 points for Indiana, which has dropped four in a row since a six-game winning streak.
We're still in a good position. ... We just have to keep working," George said after the loss. "We have a day off tomorrow that's much needed."
Tyler Hansbrough scored 13 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter in defeat, while David West had just two points and three boards in 17 minutes of action.
Indiana is a solid 11-5 at home this season.
Portland has hit the skids lately and will resume a season-long, seven-game road trip Tuesday. It is 1-2 so far on the trek and was able to register a 110-99 victory in Washington on Saturday thanks to 30 points and 10 rebounds from All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge.
"We were due a good shooting night," said Aldridge. "We've been in the gym and the guys have been working."
Jamal Crawford added 23 points and Raymond Felton finished with 21 and five assists for Portland, which entered the game with five losses in six tries. The Blazers are just 6-14 away from Rip City and put the brakes on a four-game road slide with their win over the Wizards.
The Trail Blazers will also make stops in New York, Chicago and Oklahoma City and are playing Indiana for the first time since splitting a home-and-home set a year ago. The Pacers have won 10 of the past 15 matchups in this series.
