Turner leads Sixers into Indy
Mar 14, 2012 - 2:38 PM (Sports Network) - Two of the most-improved teams in the Eastern Conference get together tonight, as the Philadelphia 76ers take on the Indiana Pacers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The 76ers have won three in a row and four of six games, and opened a short two-game road trip with Sunday's 106-94 win at New York. Lou Williams scored 28 points off the bench and Evan Turner continued his recent tear with 24 points and 15 rebounds, 14 on the defensive end, for the Sixers, who own a 2 1/2-game lead over Boston in the Atlantic Division.
"We were clicking on both ends," said Andre Iguodala. "We did a better job of getting to the basket and getting foul calls."
Iguodala scored 19 points in the win, as Philadelphia improved to 9-9 in away games this season and 11-2 when scoring 100-plus points. Turner is averaging 22.0 ppg in his last three games and has started the previous four.
Philadelphia lost eight of 10 games before its recent surge.
Center Spencer Hawes has missed 27 of the past 29 games due to injury and 28 games overall this season. He is questionable tonight with a strained left Achilles and the Sixers are 13-15 without him this season, as opposed to a 12-2 mark with him in the lineup.
Indiana ended a four-game losing streak with last night's 92-75 drubbing of the visiting Portland Trail Blazers in the opener of a two-game homestand.
Lou Amundson netted a career-high 21 points and Danny Granger, Paul George and George Hill all finished with 11 points for Indiana, which is 12-5 at home.
"It felt great," Amundson said after the game. "We wanted to make a statement today."
David West contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
Indiana suffered a 96-86 road loss to the Sixers on Jan. 9 this season and has dropped two in a row and three of the last four meetings between the teams.
The 76ers have lost six of 10 trips to the Hoosier State.
