Suns close out residency vs. Jazz

Mar 14, 2012 - 2:54 PM (Sports Network) - Phoenix will finish up a four-game homestand on Wednesday hoping to bounce back against the Utah Jazz.

The Suns won the first two games of the residency before tripping vs. Minnesota, 127-124, in a shootout on Monday.

Jared Dudley and Steve Nash carried the Suns with 28 and 25 points, respectively, on a combined 20-of-31 shooting. Nash handed out 10 assists in a losing effort, Phoenix's first setback at home since losing to Golden State on Feb. 22.

"We just did a poor job defensively obviously to say the least," Dudley said. "But even with that, our offense kept us in the game and still gave us a chance at the end to win the game."

The Suns are 12-10 as the host this season.

Utah, meanwhile, snapped a two-game skid on Monday when a heavy-hearted Al Jefferson scored 13 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter and sparked a late run that gave the Jazz a 105-90 victory over the Pistons at EnergySolutions Arena.

Jefferson, whose grandmother passed away over the weekend, also pulled down 12 rebounds and made his first career three-pointer in the closing seconds.

"I know she wanted me to go out there and play and do my job," Jefferson said about his grandmother.

Devin Harris chipped in 19 points and eight assists and C.J. Miles added 15 points off the bench, including a key make from behind the arc that highlighted a game-ending 18-3 run for the Jazz, who were coming off a 2-3 road trip.

The Jazz put the game away at the free throw line, and Jefferson capped his big game on an emotional night with the unlikeliest of three-pointers.

"A lot is weighing on his heart with what he's got going on at home, but he gave us a great effort," Harris said of Jefferson.

Jefferson had been 0-for-23 in his career from behind the arc.

Phoenix has won five straight over the Jazz, who are just 5-15 as the visitor on the season.
