Pistons resume trek against Kings

Mar 14, 2012 - 2:58 PM (Sports Network) - The Pistons have been playing better basketball recently but haven't quite figured out how to get things done away from the Motor City.

Detroit hopes to change that tonight when it resumes a five-game road trip in Sacramento.

The Pistons started the season a dismal 4-20 but have rebounded to go 11-7 since and are a more than solid 9-3 in Auburn Hills since the beginning of February.

Detroit, however, started a stretch where it will play nine of its next 10 games on the road with a 105-90 loss in Utah on Monday, falling to a miserable 3-16 as the visitor on the season.

The Pistons were trying to build off a perfect three-game homestand, but fell in Salt Lake City for the ninth straight time. Rodney Stuckey scored a team- high 29 points and handed out seven assists in defeat.

"They made plays down the stretch and we didn't," Pistons center Ben Wallace said bluntly.

Greg Monroe and Ben Gordon totaled 14 and 12 points, respectively, for Detroit, which has lost 17 consecutive road games against Western Conference teams and will finish this trek with visits to Phoenix, the LA Clippers and Denver.

The Pistons last road victory in the West came vs. the Kings, a 100-94 win on Nov. 14, 2010.

Sacramento is currently in the midst of a season-long nine-game homestand. After winning the first two on the residency, the Kings have dropped two straight including a 115-89 setback to a shorthanded Golden State on Tuesday.

The big news came off the court shortly before the game, as Golden State agreed in principle to send Monta Ellis, Ekpe Udoh, and Kwame Brown to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Andrew Bogut and former Warrior Stephen Jackson.

Sacramento was led by DeMarcus Cousins, who scored 19 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Tyreke Evans tallied 16 points and rookie Isaiah Thomas added 15 for the Kings.

"We have got to approach every game the same way," Thomas said. "Other teams approach us like we're one of the top teams and they come in here and have good games."

Sacramento, which is 10-8 as the host on the year, will also face Boston, Minnesota, Memphis and Utah on its long residency.

The Pistons have taken four straight overall vs. the Kings. Detroit is unbeaten in the last three meetings in California's capital.
