Suns and Clippers renew hostilities in LA

Mar 15, 2012 - 2:48 PM (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Clippers hope they are heading in the right direction again as they resume a six-game homestand against Pacific Division rival Phoenix.

The Clips had lost two straight to start their residency and eight of 12 overall to fall two games behind their Staples Center co-tenants, the Lakers, in the Pacific before Wednesday's 96-82 rout of the Hawks.

Mo Williams scored 25 points in that one to lead the Clippers.

Eric Bledsoe added a season-high 14 points, Caron Butler had 13 and Blake Griffin finished with 12 and 10 rebounds for the Clips, who snapped a three- game home losing streak but remain two games south of the Lakers.

"A good solid win," said Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro. "We were better in a lot of areas. We contested shots, we put a lot of pressure on them."

The Suns, meanwhile, are also coming off a win on Wednesday, topping Utah in the desert, 120-111, behind Channing Frye's season-high 26 points.

"I was just trying to shoot the shots I usually shoot and trying to play the game the right way," said Frye.

Marcin Gortat added 25 points, Jared Dudley had 21 and Steve Nash finished with 12 points and 16 assists as the Suns finished a four-game homestand with a 3-1 record.

Phoenix is now three games behind Dallas and Houston for the final two playoff spots in the Western Conference.

The Suns have dominated the Clippers recently, winning three straight in the series and 12 of 13 overall, including an 81-78 win in Phoenix back on March 2.
