Granger helps Pacers get past Clippers

Mar 21, 2012 - 3:26 AM Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Danny Granger netted 25 points and pulled down eight rebounds to help the Pacers down the Clippers, 102-89, on Tuesday.

Tyler Hansbrough poured in 17 points off the bench, George Hill added 15 as a reserve and Roy Hibbert scored 13 for Indiana, which snapped a two-game skid. Leandro Barbosa donated 12 points in the win.

"A terrific win for our club over a very good team," said Pacers head coach Frank Vogel. "We just want to play with physicality. And tonight was one of thsoe nights. They're a physical team."

Blake Griffin paced Los Angeles with 23 points and 10 boards, Chris Paul scored 16 points and Nick Young had 13 for the Clippers, who have lost three straight at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

"A lot of shots that I think we normally hit did not go down and that's going to happen," Griffin said. "That's why we need to rely on our defense and it hasn't really been there. That's what is going to happen until we get it figured out."

Indiana erupted for 11 straight points in the third quarter after a Young three-pointer tied the game at 62. Granger netted two treys and Hibbert scored three points during the run.

Up 78-66 entering the final stanza, Hill opened the scoring with a triple and the Pacers used an 8-2 spurt a bit later to go up 93-74, marking their largest lead of the game at 19 points.

Los Angeles cut its deficit to 11 points with 4:15 left, but a Hill trey put the hosts up 98-84 and the Clippers got no closer.

Both teams shot roughly 52 percent in the first quarter and were tied at 31-31 after one, but the Clippers were held to 30 percent in the second period as Indiana opened a 54-46 halftime lead.
