Warriors start brief road trip in New Orleans

Mar 21, 2012 - 2:40 PM (Sports Network) - The Golden State Warriors will play back-to-back games on the road, starting with Wednesday's showdown with the New Orleans Hornets in the Big Easy.

The Warriors have dropped four straight overall since winning three in a row and are coming off Monday's 97-93 setback versus Minnesota in Oakland. David Lee had 25 points and nine rebounds, while recently-acquired Richard Jefferson scored 19 for the Warriors, who played their fifth straight game without shooting guard Stephen Curry.

Curry is hobbled by a sprained right ankle and is out indefinitely. Fans also booed Golden State owner Joe Lacob during a halftime ceremony honoring former player Chris Mullin. Mullin had his No. 17 retired and was forced to interrupt his own ceremony to address the booing of Lacob. The owner has drawn the fans' ire, largely for trading leading scorer Monta Ellis to Milwaukee for injured big man Andrew Bogut. Rick Barry also chastised the crowd for the behavior.

Head coach Mark Jackson addressed the incident after the game.

"Pulling the trigger on a Monta Ellis trade is not easy," said Jackson. "But we understood that it was a play that put us in a position where the future is awfully bright. We talked about it, this is a process, and we're gonna keep on battling."

Golden State will visit Houston tomorrow night and is 8-12 as the guest this season. It is five games off the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

New Orleans will commence a three-game homestand tonight versus the Warriors, Clippers and Spurs, and has dropped four in a row as the host. It just 4-19 in the Big Easy this season.

The Hornets ended a three-game slide with Saturday's 102-94 win at New Jersey, as Chris Kaman and Marco Belinelli scored 20 points apiece to lead the way. "I think in the second half, we played very good basketball, especially on defense," Belinelli said after the win. "I think that's why we won the game."

New Orleans and Golden State are meeting for the first time since the Warriors took two of three matchups a year ago. The Warriors have lost 15 of 19 games at the Hornets.
