Magic host Cavs at Amway Center

Mar 23, 2012 - 2:48 PM (Sports Network) - The Orlando Magic will continue their push to the postseason by seeking an eighth consecutive win over the reeling Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Magic, who are currently the third seed in the Eastern Conference, snapped a modest two-game skid and bounced back from an ugly loss to the Chicago Bulls by earning a 103-93 win over the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.

Dwight Howard had 28 points and 16 rebounds while Ryan Anderson scored a game- high 29 points for Orlando, which scored just 59 points total in the opener of a three-game homestand against the Bulls two days earlier. Glen Davis added 16 off the bench.

The Magic led by as many as 22 while shooting 47 percent from the floor, including 11-of-23 on three-pointers.

Although his team's lead was double digits throughout the second half, Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said his team "shut down and didn't do a damn thing" on defense down the stretch, allowing the Suns to creep closer at the end.

"We stopped playing defense when we were up 20 and that was disappointing," said Van Gundy. "Up until then we had great focus on what we were doing defensively."

The Cavs, meanwhile, have dropped four of five, including Wednesday's tough 103-102 setback in Atlanta. The Hawks' Joe Johnson buried the game-tying three-pointer at the buzzer in regulation and the game-winning basket late in overtime in that one.

Rookie star Kyrie Irving flirted with a triple-double, finishing with 29 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, but it was not enough for Cleveland, which fell to 8-13 on the road this season. Antawn Jamison scored 23 points and pulled down 12 boards in defeat.

"I'm obviously disappointed in the way it ended," said Cavaliers head coach Byron Scott. "We played pretty hard. We played pretty well. We just made some bad decisions. I mean, just really bad decisions in overtime."

Cleveland guard Boobie Gibson could miss his second straight game tonight with a sprained left ankle.
