Spurs target another win with Pacers in town

Mar 31, 2012 - 3:00 PM (Sports Network) - The San Antonio Spurs are closing in on another playoff berth and Southwest Division title, but still have some work to do and will take on the Indiana Pacers tonight in the Alamo City.

The Spurs are seeded No. 2 in the Western Conference and have a comfortable lead atop the Southwest standings. They have ripped off six straight wins and nine in the last 10 games, including a 117-112 win at Sacramento on Wednesday in the finale of a brief two-game road trip.

Manu Ginobili led a balanced attack with 20 points off the bench, Kawhi Leonard added 19 points and nine rebounds and Tim Duncan chipped in 18 points and eight rebounds for San Antonio, which was playing on back-to-back nights and got 13 points from newcomer Stephen Jackson. The Spurs shot 53.8 percent and made 10 of 20 three-pointers.

"I feel pretty good right now," Duncan said after playing back-to-back nights. "I'm sure it will hit me in the next two days here, but I feel good right now."

San Antonio will shoot for its sixth straight win at home and is 20-4 at the AT&T Center this season. It is 11-3 against the Eastern Conference this season, including a 6-1 mark at home.

Indiana will begin a tour through Texas against the Spurs and Rockets, and is 14-13 away from the Hoosier State this season.

The Pacers, currently seeded fifth in the Eastern Conference, have won five of their last seven games and are coming off Thursday's 93-89 triumph versus the Washington Wizards. Danny Granger scored 25 points and David West and George Hill contributed 14 points apiece for Indiana, which rebounded from a tough loss to the lowly New Jersey Nets on Wednesday.

"Last night's game kind of stuck with us but we knew that we had to move on and put that game behind us," said Granger. "We've got to be more consistent night in and night out and continue to play hard. Every game is important."

Indiana will visit Houston on Sunday and is 10-4 against teams from the Western Conference this season (5-2 on road). It lost both meetings with the Spurs a year ago and is winless in the past eight matchups in the series. The Pacers have lost nine straight and 12 of the last 13 games in the Alamo City.

The Spurs haven't lost a series against Indiana since the 1994-95 season and have swept the last four series.
