Playoff-hopeful Grizzlies, Bucks set for battle

Mar 31, 2012 - 3:09 PM (Sports Network) - Two teams with playoff aspirations square off tonight in Brew City, as the Memphis Grizzlies pay a visit to the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Grizzlies are currently seeded No. 6 in the Western Conference, just a game behind defending champion Dallas and one-half game in front of both Houston and Denver. They had a modest two-game winning streak stopped with Friday's 98-89 setback against the Rockets in the opener of a three-game road trip and got 20 points from Rudy Gay.

Marc Gasol added 19 and nine rebounds for Memphis, which lost for the sixth time in the past nine tries. The Grizzlies, especially Gay, were impressed with Rockets center Marcus Camby after the veteran posted seven points, 16 boards and six blocks.

"Obviously he is a defensive presence, he's been defensive player of the year and he knows exactly how to position against all the guys inside, he's another line of defense and they already have had a good defensive team. He fits right in with their style," Gay said of Camby.

Memphis will close out the trek next week at Oklahoma City and is 10-15 away from FedEx Forum this season.

Milwaukee is fighting for a postseason berth in the Eastern Conference and sits just 1 1/2 games behind New York for the eighth and final playoff spot. It will play six of the next seven games at the Bradley Center, where it owns a 12-11 mark, and recorded a 121-84 drubbing of Cleveland last night.

Brandon Jennings scored 28 points and Ersan Ilyasova recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Bucks, who have won two straight and nine of 12 games. Mike Dunleavy added 16 points on 4-of-5 shooting from three- point range.

"I'm just in a good flow right now," said Dunleavy after the win. "My teammates are finding me in good positions and I'm just knocking down shots. I'm being put in a good situation and just taking care of the rest. It's going well right now."

Milwaukee shot 56.8 percent and hit 10 of 16 from three-point range. The Bucks, who are 12-11 as the host, will visit Washington next week before returning home for a five-game residency versus Cleveland, Charlotte, Portland, Oklahoma City and New York.

The Bucks and Grizzlies are meeting for the first time since Memphis swept a home-and-home set a year ago. Milwaukee has won seven of the past 10 matchups between the teams.
