Magic try to cure home woes against Pistons
Apr 9, 2012 - 3:01 PM (Sports Network) - The Orlando Magic look to halt a three-game home losing streak when they entertain the Detroit Pistons tonight at Amway Center. The Magic are 18-11 at home this season and stopped a five-game overall slide with an 88-82 victory at Philadelphia on Saturday. Dwight Howard registered his 43rd double-double of the season with 20 points and 22 rebounds, while Glen Davis had a game-high 23 points and 12 boards for the Magic.
"We really needed this win," said Howard, who also handed out six assists and has posted an NBA-best nine 20-20 games this season.
J.J. Redick and Jason Richardson scored 19 and 10 points, respectively, in a winning cause.
Orlando is currently the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference, one-half game behind Atlanta and a game in back of Indiana.
The Pistons will resume a four-game road trip Monday and have lost the first two tests on the trek at Atlanta and Miami.
In a 98-75 loss to the Heat on Sunday, Brandon Knight had 16 points and five rebounds, and both Greg Monroe and Rodney Stuckey netted 11 points.
"We know we could have played a much better game," said Knight. "The fight was there, but we gave up a lot of easy baskets tonight that we normally do not do."
Detroit has dropped two straight since winning three in a row and five of six games, and is winless in its last three road games. It will close out the current trek in Charlotte on Thursday and is just 6-23 as the guest.
The Pistons have won the first two matchups with Orlando this season and are aiming for its first sweep in this series since winning all three encounters back in 2008-09.
