Garbajosa, Raptors edge Celtics in overtime

Oct 12, 2006 - 2:48 AM TORONTO (Ticker) -- The Toronto Raptors got a chance to see how they would react in pressure situations.

Chris Bosh scored 22 points and Jorge Garbajosa recorded six of his 18 in overtime to help lift the Raptors to an 118-112 victory over the Boston Celtics in a preseason matchup.

Garbajosa, who made 4-of-8 from the arc, and Jose Calderon combined to scored 10 of Toronto's 16 points in the extra session. The 6-9 Garbajosa connected on consecutive 3-pointers and Calderon made two driving layups with 1:19 left for a 112-107 lead, one the Raptors would not relinquish.

Celtics rookie Rajon Rondo sent the game into overtime when he drained a 3-pointer from the top of the key as time expired. Rondo finished with 29 points, five assists and three steals.

Fred Jones had 14 points, eight rebounds and seven assists and Andrea Bargnani - the top overall pick in June - contributed 13 points for Toronto, which shot 44 percent (40-of-90) from the field.

Paul Pierce scored 19 of his 23 points in the first half while Sebastian Telfair chipped in with 16 for the Celtics, who shot 45 percent (33-of-72).
