Bobcats visit Hornets in New Orleans

Nov 9, 2012 - 4:11 PM (Sports Network) - Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist won an NCAA title together last season with Kentucky and became the first college teammates to be selected with the first two picks of the NBA Draft.

Davis went to the New Orleans Hornets with the No. 1 pick and the Charlotte Bobcats plucked Kidd-Gilchrist in the second slot. Both teams will clash Friday in the Big Easy, but Davis could miss another game as he is dealing with a mild concussion.

Darius Miller, who went with the 46th pick to the Hornets, played with Davis and Kidd-Gilchrist at Kentucky and could be in the starting lineup versus the Bobcats.

New Orleans will play its fourth home game in five chances and dropped a 77-62 decision to Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Al-Farouq Aminu scored a team-high 10 points and pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds, while Ryan Anderson added nine points and 10 boards for the Hornets, who had a two-game winning streak stopped and were without Davis and fellow rookie Austin Rivers. Rivers is questionable Friday with a sprained left index finger.

"My first thought is we didn't have the same juice that we normally have," New Orleans coach Monty Williams said. "I've told our guys since we've been here that there's one way that we play, and there's one way that we're going to be successful, especially when we have guys out. We have to play with more force. I didn't see that tonight."

The Sixers forced 24 turnovers, leading to 26 points. New Orleans hasn't reached the 100-point mark yet, but hasn't allowed that many points, either.

Charlotte has dropped two straight since opening the 2012-13 campaign with a win versus Indiana. It was blown out at Dallas, 126-99, on Saturday, then dropped a 117-110 decision versus Phoenix on Wednesday.

Byron Mullens had 24 points and eight rebounds, Ramon Sessions had 17 points and nine assists and Kemba Walker finished the game with 17 points and eight assists for Charlotte, which was beaten on the boards, 50-39, and shot 43.7 percent for the game.

"The signs are there that we don't let go of a game," Charlotte head coach Mike Dunlap said. "But we expended too much energy coming back and (Shannon) Brown was making shots with guys all over him."

The Bobcats haven't started 2-2 since the 2009-10 campaign, when they opened the season 3-2 and lost the next seven games. Gerald Henderson, Charlotte's leading scorer last season, is still out with a sprained left foot.

Charlotte and New Orleans split a pair of meetings last season, but the Hornets have prevailed in 11 of the past 15 matchups in this series. The Bobcats are just 2-6 in games played in the Big Easy.
