Crawford, Clippers handle Heat

Nov 15, 2012 - 7:13 AM Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Jamal Crawford posted 22 points to lead the Los Angeles Clippers to a 107-100 win against the Miami Heat on Wednesday.

Blake Griffin had 20 points, 14 rebounds and six assists while Chris Paul added 16 points and 10 helpers for the Clippers, who have won their past four games. Caron Butler gave 15 points in the win.

"It feels great to be on a team like this," said Paul. "It's fun to be able to come out here and feel that spark you get from this great crowd we have every night."

LeBron James posted 30 points, seven assists and five rebounds for the Heat, who moved to 2-2 on a six-game road trip. Ray Allen added 14 points and five steals in the loss.

"The road gets tough and we're not playing our best basketball right now," said Allen. "We played well in spurts, but we were not consistent. That's a good team over there and they are a legit contender."

The Clippers trailed by two points entering the third quarter, but went on an early 12-2 run and held a 64-58 lead after Butler made two from the line with 8 1/2 minutes left in the frame.

Miami kept it close and later made it a one-point game, but Paul hit consecutive 3-pointers a bit later and closed out the frame with five throws as the Clippers took an 85-74 lead into the fourth.

Los Angeles continued to pour it on in the fourth quarter as the team used a 10-0 run, capped on jumper from Crawford for a 95-76 lead with just over eight minutes to play.

A 9-0 run got Miami to within 11 as Allen's two free throws made it a 104-93 game with 3:47 to play, but Los Angeles responded to put the game away.

Griffin made 1-of-2 from the line and, Matt Barnes hit two from the line after blocking a James shot and getting fouled for a 14-point lead with 3:05 left in the game.

Miami scored the final seven points of the game to make it close, but the last two came with under half a minute left.

The game stayed close through much of the first quarter and Crawford hit a 3- pointer late in the frame to give the Clippers a 25-24 lead heading into the second.

Miami went ahead with a strong second quarter and held a five-point lead twice, but Butler hit a 3-pointer right before the buzzer to make it a 54-52 game at the break.

Los Angeles hosts Chicago on Saturday ... Miami plays in Denver on Thursday ... The Clippers have scored at least 100 points in all but one of their eight games this season ... Los Angeles shot 48.6 percent from the field while Miami made 45.5 percent of its shots.
