Hawks head home to host Magic

Nov 19, 2012 - 4:02 PM (Sports Network) - Fresh off going .500 on a recent road trip, the Atlanta Hawks will get used to home over the next few weeks, starting with Monday's matchup with the Southeast Division-rival Orlando Magic at Philips Arena.

The Hawks went 2-2 on a four-game western road swing against the Clippers, Trail Blazers, Warriors and Kings, and finished the trek by handing Sacramento a 112-96 defeat on Friday. Kyle Korver's stroke was on display for a game-high 22 points on 7-of-9 shooting and he knocked down all five of his 3-pointers.

Al Horford got into the act with 20 points and 10 rebounds, Lou Williams provided 21 points off the bench and Josh Smith added 19 for an Atlanta team that shot 55.3 percent for the game and 53.3 percent from downtown.

"I thought we moved the ball well. I thought tonight was probably our best game as a team as far as executing plays, seeing the first, second and third option and taking our time," Korver said. "And that's when guys like me are able to thrive. Good ball movement and a good shooting night."

Atlanta outscored the Kings by 14 points in the both the opening and third quarters, and its lead swelled to 18 in the second stanza. Jeff Teague scored 13 of his 15 points in the first quarter.

Smith has been a thorn in opponents' side lately and is averaging 18.0 points (54) and 9.7 rebounds (29) in his last three games. His teammates understand how well he is playing as of late and have dished out 20-plus assists in all eight games this season, averaging 21.5 apg in that span.

The Hawks will play two straight and seven of their next eight games at home and are 111-46 as the host since the 2008-09 season.

Orlando was able to halt a five-game losing streak Friday at Detroit, but fell back into the loss column with a 97-86 setback in Toronto two days later.

Glen Davis and E'Twaun Moore each finished with 16 points for the Magic, who hope to close out a three-game road trip Monday on a good note and are 1-4 away from home this season. Davis also had 12 rebounds and J.J. Redick missed the game because of an illness. He is questionable against the Hawks.

"It affects us with scoring, ball movement and leadership," Orlando coach Jacque Vaughn said of not having Redick.

The Magic were able to get within 69-67 against the Raptors, but the hosts posted a big run late in the game to pull away. Arron Afflalo added 15 points in a losing effort.

Orlando, which has trailed after the first quarter in seven games this season, will begin a five-game homestand Wednesday versus Detroit, Cleveland, Boston, San Antonio and Brooklyn.

Atlanta has enjoyed success lately in this series, sweeping all three matchups with Orlando a season ago. The Hawks have won six straight and seven of the previous eight meetings with the Magic, losers in four straight at Philips Arena.
