Bobcats aim for rare road win over Thunder

Nov 26, 2012 - 3:44 PM (Sports Network) - The Charlotte Bobcats already matched their win total from a season ago, but they head to Oklahoma City on Monday night to play the Thunder.

With their double-overtime victory Saturday in Washington over the hapless Wizards, the Bobcats collected win No. 7. That was all they managed in the lockout-shortened 2011-12 season and led to the worst winning percentage for a team in the history of the league.

Things have certainly turned around under new head coach Mike Dunlap. Charlotte has won three of its last four and two in a row on the road. This is the second of a three-game trip outside North Carolina.

The Bobcats had their hands full on Saturday against the desperate Wizards. Reggie Williams made a go-ahead 3-pointer in the second extra frame to give Charlotte a 108-106 victory.

That was Williams' only basket Saturday night. Six Bobcats scored in double- figures, lead by 27 from Byron Mullens and 21 off the bench from Ramon Sessions.

"It was a real tough game. It was a real gutsy win for us," said Charlotte guard Kemba Walker, the team's leading scorer at 18.0 ppg. "We just had to tough it out. We fought through the whole game and were able to come out with a win. That just shows the toughness of our team."

They head to the Chesapeake Energy Arena on Monday, a venue they've never won at.

The Thunder are quietly going about their business with nine wins in their last 11 games. On Saturday night in Philadelphia, four different Thunder players hit 3-pointers in overtime to give Oklahoma City a 116-109 victory.

Oklahoma City was led by Kevin Durant's 37 points, aided by 15-for-17 free- throw shooting, and 30 from Russell Westbrook. Kevin Martin and Thabo Sefolosha made the other long-distance shots in overtime.

"It's about trust," head coach Scott Brooks said. "When they took those shots, we all believed that they were going to make that next shot. That's good basketball, that's a lot of good team-building, chemistry-building on those last four or five shots."

Durant is up to second in the NBA in scoring and the Thunder trail only the Miami Heat in team scoring. They have gone over the 100-point mark in five straight and seven of their last nine.

Monday's game will be the first of three in a row at home for the reigning Western Conference champions.

The Thunder have won five of the last six meetings with the Bobcats and are 4-0 at home against Charlotte since moving from Seattle.
