Winless Wizards welcome Spurs

Nov 26, 2012 - 3:51 PM (Sports Network) - The chances of the Washington Wizards reaching the win column Monday at home are very remote with the San Antonio Spurs in town.

The Wizards are off to a franchise-worst 0-11 start and have lost 12 in a row and 21 of the last 24 meetings with San Antonio. The Spurs have prevailed in each of their last five trips to D.C., last losing there Nov. 12, 2005.

Washington's tumultuous start to the season continued with Saturday's 108-106 loss in double overtime to the Charlotte Bobcats. Martell Webster scored 21 points and Nene had 19 for the Wizards, who shot 36.6 percent from the floor and made only 6-of-27 3-pointers.

"We were in positions where we could have taken advantage of a victory," Webster said. "But it didn't work out that way. We kept fighting but I know that time after time that gets old. We just have to win."

Chris Singleton had 13 points and 12 rebounds and Bradley Beal registered a double-double of his own, recording 13 points and 10 boards in defeat. Singleton is averaging 10.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals in his last three games.

Nene, who missed the first nine games of the season, is averaging 15.5 points per game in two games since returning to action.

The Wizards, the NBA's lowest-scoring team with 89.8 ppg, will close out their three-game homestand Wednesday versus Portland and are 0-5 in the nation's capital.

San Antonio has won three straight and four of five games, and will try to stay unbeaten on this six-game road trip.

The Spurs edged the Toronto Raptors 111-106 in double overtime on Sunday, as Tony Parker delivered 11 of his 32 points over two overtimes and Tim Duncan tallied 26 points, six assists and five rebounds. Duncan still leads the NBA with 739 career double-doubles among active players.

"It was a hard fought game, anybody could've won it," Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said. "We played better in the overtime."

San Antonio had a 14-9 advantage in the second OT and got 15 points from Manu Ginobili. Danny Green contributed 13 points and nine boards in the win.

The Spurs, who are sixth in the NBA with 100.9 ppg and 7-1 as the guest, own the most wins in the NBA (11-3) and still have Orlando and Miami on the road docket.
