Clippers stomp Kings

Dec 2, 2012 - 6:17 AM Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Jamal Crawford netted 17 points to lead seven double-digit scorers for the Clippers as Los Angeles eased past the Sacramento Kings, 116-81, at Staples Center.

Blake Griffin, Chris Paul and Eric Bledsoe followed with 14 points apiece, while DeAndre Jordan had 13, Matt Barnes netted 12 and Caron Butler finished with 11 for the Clippers, who have won two straight.

"We came out aggressive on the offensive end and on the defensive end. The ball moved. Everybody touched it," Paul said. "It was collective tonight. This is the fun way to play, when the ball is moving."

Marcus Thornton paced the Kings with a game-high 20 points and Jason Thompson added 16 points and 12 rebounds for Sacramento, which has lost its last three.

Sacramento took its only lead of the contest when Thornton's driving layup gave the Kings an early 4-3 lead before Chauncey Billups and Butler connected on a pair of 3-pointers to spark a 14-2 run, handing the Clippers a 17-6 advantage with 5 1/2 minutes left in the first quarter.

The Kings managed to cut their deficit to five when Thornton capped a brief 5-0 push with a shot from beyond the arc, but Los Angeles closed out the first quarter with a 9-3 push to carry a 28-17 lead into the second quarter.

Sacramento then turned in a other 17-point performance in the second quarter while being held to just 31.6 percent shooting in the stanza.

The Clippers, however, connected on 40.6 percent of their shots en route to a 58-34 lead at the break.

Los Angeles' lead fell to single digits just once in the second quarter, when Hayes opened the frame with a layup to get within 18-19.

It was all Clippers from there, starting with an 18-5 run to push their lead to 46-24 and ending with another lengthy 12-5 spurt to carry a 24-point advantage into halftime.

Sacramento never threatened in the second half, trailing by at least 24 points throughout the final 24 minutes as Los Angeles emptied its bench.

"They played at a level that was incredible. We didn't have what was necessary to play a team like that," Kings coach Keith Smart said. "The tone was set early in their favor."
