Parker, Spurs down Rockets in OT

Dec 11, 2012 - 5:53 AM Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Tony Parker recorded the first triple-double of his career with 27 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists, as the San Antonio Spurs needed overtime to beat the Houston Rockets, 134-126.

Gary Neal made seven 3-pointers en route to 29 points for the Spurs, who have won five in a row. Manu Ginobili tallied 22 points and six assists.

Tim Duncan had a double-double with 10 points and 13 boards for San Antonio, which improved to 11-2 on the road this season. Danny Green donated 14 points and six rebounds.

Jeremy Lin tied a career high with 38 points while dishing out seven assists for the Rockets, who have dropped three straight. Omer Asik added 21 points and 10 boards.

"It's tough obviously," Lin said. "I am thankful that I was able to kind of get comfortable out there, but that's definitely secondary to the fact that we blew another close game. I had the ball to win it and didn't get a shot up and so this one definitely hurts."

Chandler Parsons finished with 20 points and seven boards for Houston, which played without guard James Harden due to a right ankle injury.

Trailing by nine, 107-98, with 8:32 to play in regulation, the Spurs went on a 12-0 run to take the lead. Parker and Neal made 3-pointers during the burst to give the visitors a 110-107 edge.

Parsons stopped the surge with back-to-back 3-pointers to put Houston back in front. He added another shot from beyond the arc following Neal's 3-pointer.

Parker got the Spurs within one, 116-115, on a layup with 3:08 left. Ginobili added a 3-pointer with 1:45 remaining to give San Antonio a 120-118 margin.

Duncan blocked Parsons' layup to give the Spurs the ball back. However, Neal missed a 3-pointer and Green missed a layup.

Green was called for a loose ball foul after Lin missed a 15-foot jumper. Asik used the glass to make a 14-foot jumper, which tied the game at 120 with 37.3 seconds to go.

Houston had a chance to take the lead following a missed jumper by Parker. The Spurs played good defense on Lin and caused a shot clock violation.

Carlos Delfino blocked Duncan's jumper at the other end to force overtime.

Holding a 124-122 lead with 2:57 remaining in the extra session, San Antonio went on a 6-0 spurt. Neal made a 3-pointer and Ginobili recorded a three-point play to make it a 130-122 contest.

The Rockets never got closer than six the rest of the way.

"It was a crazy game," Neal said. "It went in overtime, they came out aggressively, made a lot of shots. I mean they shot the ball terrifically from 3 point and we were able to hang in there and keep it close and we were finally able to string some shots together to kind of send it into overtime so you know it was an up and down game but we came out on top."

The first half featured five ties and five lead changes. The Spurs headed to the locker room with a 64-63 lead.

Houston ended the third period on a 12-3 run to take a 93-91 margin into the fourth.

San Antonio has won three straight against Houston. The Spurs had lost three in a row at Houston ... The Rockets fell to 0-2 since head coach Kevin McHale returned to the bench Saturday after taking a leave of absence Nov. 10 ... The Rockets went 16-of-30 from beyond the arc ... Spurs forward DeJuan Blair returned to the lineup after missing Saturday's 132-102 stomping of Charlotte with a sprained left ankle. He had nine points.
