Spurs wrap up road trip against Trail Blazers

Dec 13, 2012 - 3:38 PM (Sports Network) - The San Antonio Spurs will try to get back to their winning ways when they close out a four-game road trip Thursday against the Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Garden.

The Spurs had a five-game winning streak stopped with Wednesday's 99-96 loss at Utah. Jazz guard Mo Williams hit the game-winning 3-pointer as time expired to send the Spurs packing with their fifth loss of the season.

"What do you think a guy is going to do with two seconds left on the clock," Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said. "You make him drive. You don't step back on Mo Williams."

Tim Duncan had 22 points and 21 boards, while Tony Parker added 22 points and seven assists for the Spurs, who are 2-1 on the trip and 11-3 as the visitor this season.

San Antonio, which leads the Southwest Division, will return home following this contest with Boston scheduled to visit the Alamo City Saturday.

Portland will resume a six-game homestand this evening and has won three of its last five games.

The Trail Blazers are 1-1 on the residency and ended a two-game slide with Monday's 92-74 win over the Toronto Raptors.

LaMarcus Aldridge recorded a double-double with 30 points and 12 rebounds, while J.J. Hickson added 16 points and 11 boards for the Blazers, who have won eight straight against Toronto.

Sasha Pavlovic finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

"I thought Sasha Pavlovic played a terrific game -- defensively more than anything else, but he played heavy minutes and I thought he did a terrific job defensively and offensively. Obviously, LaMarcus did everything we needed from him," Blazers coach Terry Stotts said. "I thought it was a really good team win. We got a lot of good effort from a lot of people."

The Blazers will also host the Hornets, Nuggets and Suns on the homestand and are 5-4 in the Rose City this season.

On the injury front for Portland, rookie Damian Lillard (ankle) is probable and both Nicolas Batum (back) and Wesley Matthews (hip) are listed as questionable versus the Spurs.

Portland dropped a 112-109 decision to San Antonio on Nov. 10 this season and has lost three of the last four meetings between the teams.
