Suns make 17 3's, deal Bobcats 13th straight loss
Dec 20, 2012 - 5:42 AM Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Shannon Brown connected on five 3-pointers en route to a team-high 26 points as the Phoenix Suns rolled over the floundering Charlotte Bobcats, 121-104, at US Airways Center.Goran Dragic and Jared Dudley each added four shots from beyond the arc as Phoenix shot 17-for-28 from three-point range in the contest.
"If we run our stuff, people are going to get wide open shots and we just have to knock down shots," said Brown. "Everybody did a great job of finding each other today."
Dragic finished with 21 points and 11 assists, while Dudley had 20 points for the Suns, who stretched their season-high win streak to four games.
Kemba Walker paced the Bobcats with a game-high 27 points and Michael Kidd- Gilchrist followed with 25 to go along with 12 rebounds for Charlotte, which lost its 13th straight game.
"We still feel pretty confident in ourselves. It's still a young season and we still have a lot of time," Walker said. "Right now we're losing, but I think good things are going to happen for us really soon."
Phoenix held a 28-27 lead at the end of the first quarter after a back-and- forth opening 12 minutes that saw seven lead changes and four ties, but the Suns were quickly able to pull away in the second, opening the frame with a 13-2 run to jump ahead, 41-29.
Walker put a halt to the run with a 3-pointer and then went 1-for-2 at the foul line to get the Bobcats back within eight points before Phoenix exploded with a 14-3 push to take a commanding 55-36 advantage with 4:07 left in the half.
Charlotte would get no closer than 17 points for the remainder of the frame and Phoenix took a 64-46 cushion into the break.
The Suns connected on 60.9 percent (14-of-23) of their shots in the decisive second quarter as their bench scored 32 of 36 total points in the stanza and held the Bobcats to just 20 percent (3-for-15) from the floor.
Phoenix then cruised through the second half as their lead fluctuated between 14 and 30 points over the final 24 minutes.
Game Notes
Charlotte has not won since a 108-106 double-overtime decision over Washington on Nov. 24 ... The Bobcats fell to 2-8 on the road this season, while Phoenix improved to 9-5 at home ...
