Nets, Pacers square off in Brooklyn

Jan 13, 2013 - 3:52 PM (Sports Network) - A pair of streaking teams get together Sunday evening as the Brooklyn Nets welcome the Indiana Pacers to Barclays Center.

The Nets have won a season high-tying five in a row, while Indiana brings a four-game winning streak into this Eastern Conference affair.

Brooklyn won its fourth straight at home with Friday's 99-79 victory over the lowly Phoenix Suns in the opener of a three-game residency. Joe Johnson was questionable to play due to illness, but pulled through with 19 points, four rebounds and three assists.

MarShon Brooks added 17 points and Andray Blatche contributed 15 and eight rebounds for Brooklyn, which is 7-1 under interim coach P.J. Carlesimo and received 15 points and six assists from star point guard Deron Williams.

The Nets have won their last three games by 20-plus points

"We kind of know what to expect. We have a little better feel for each other," Johnson said. "Earlier in the season, I don't think we really knew (what to expect), we were just out there playing."

In injury news for the Nets, forward Gerald Wallace left the game in the first quarter after absorbing a hard foul from PJ Tucker. Wallace was later diagnosed with bruised ribs and did not return. He is expected to miss Sunday's game against the Pacers.

Williams (thigh) and forward Kris Humphries (ankle) are listed as questionable.

The Nets will also host Toronto and own a 13-7 record at home, including a 9-3 home ledger against teams from the East. In other team news, the Nets signed forward Damion James to a 10-day contract. In 17 games for Bakersfield of the NBA D-League, James averaged 15.5 points and 7.3 rebounds.

Indiana has been playing hot as of late, winning four straight, six of seven and 13 of its last 16 games.

The Pacers will play three in a row on the road against Brooklyn, Charlotte and Orlando, but have dropped two straight away from home. The Pacers, who are 8-11 on the road as opposed to a 15-3 home mark, completed a perfect four-game residency with a 96-88 decision over the Bobcats on Saturday.

David West notched a triple-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists, while George Hill posted 19 points in the win -- Indiana's 10th straight as the host. It's the longest home winning streak since a 14-gamer in 2002-03.

"It was just a part of the game," said West, who stepped up with Paul George sitting with the flu. "The ball was in my hands a lot because PG was out. Its not just about going out there and getting shots, its about going out there and making the right play."

George is expected to miss Sunday's game.

Indiana and Brooklyn are meeting for the first time since the Pacers took three of four matchups a season ago. The Pacers have won 13 of the past 15 in this series.
