Clippers aim to rebound against Grizzlies

Jan 14, 2013 - 3:49 PM (Sports Network) - Two of the finest the Western Conference has to offer collide Monday night as the Los Angeles Clippers pay a visit to the Memphis Grizzlies at FedEx Forum.

The Clippers will play three in a row on the road against Memphis, Houston and Minnesota and are 10-5 as the guest this season. They have lost two straight away from home and had a three-game winning streak cut short with Saturday's 104-101 setback to the lowly Orlando Magic.

Blake Griffin finished with 30 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, while Chris Paul contributed 10 points, 16 assists and four steals for Los Angeles, which got 13 points off the bench from Jamal Crawford. The Clippers shot 48.9 percent for the game and made just 9-of-22 3-pointers.

Orlando also halted its lengthy 10-game losing streak.

"Embarrassing performance, we got beat in every aspect," said Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro. "We let them hang around and we got what we deserved. Very disappointed in our effort."

Paul is probable for Monday's game with a bruised knee.

Memphis is set to play six of its next eight games at home and was routed by the Dallas Mavericks, 104-83, on Saturday in Big D.

Rudy Gay had 12 points, while Darrell Arthur and Josh Selby ended with 11 and 10 points, respectively, for the Grizzlies, whose four-game winning streak came to an end.

"We just didn't have it tonight," Memphis coach Lionel Hollins said. "We didn't have maybe one, maybe one-and-a-half starters that could bring it. Our focus and concentration wasn't there."

Big man Zach Randolph was held to six points and four rebounds, and Marc Gasol and Mike Conley combined for 15 points. The Grizzlies shot just 38.1 percent from the field.

Memphis has been tough at home as evidenced by its 14-4 record at FedEx Forum, where the Grizzlies have won 26 of the past 29 contests. The Grizzlies rank second in the NBA in points allowed per game (89.7). L.A. is seventh in the league in scoring with 101.8 ppg.

The Clippers defeated Memphis, 101-92, back on Oct. 31 this season and have won five of the last six meetings between the teams. Los Angeles, though, has lost six of its previous eight trips to Memphis.
