Pistons cap odd homestand against Magic

Jan 22, 2013 - 3:34 PM (Sports Network) - The Detroit Pistons will try to finish off an odd homestand Tuesday night with a second straight victory when they host the Orlando Magic at The Palace at Auburn Hills.

This is the fourth and final game of a homestand that featured a game on Thursday in London where they were the home team against the New York Knicks. The Pistons came back to Detroit and toppled the Boston Celtics, 103-88 on Sunday.

"Just getting back in the gym after getting back from London and getting that jet lag out of there and get some shots up, we got some great workouts in with the coaches and guys prepared for this game."

The Pistons never trailed against the Celtics and built a 27-18 lead after the first quarter. Boston closed the gap to a point early in the third, but Detroit went on a 15-4 run and the C's never threatened again.

For the game, the Pistons never trailed and led by as many as 19. They shot 47.4 percent from the 3-point line and held the Celtics under 40 percent for the game and under 27 percent from long range.

Rookie Andre Drummond led the way for Detroit with 16 points. Greg Monroe, Brandon Knight and Will Bynum each had 15 and Tayshaun Prince and Kyle Singler scored 14 and 13, respectively.

Orlando has last two in a row, both at home, and 13 of its last 15. They are struggling, but have taken both of this season's previous matchups with the Pistons, including a 110-106 victory in Detroit on Nov. 16.

After Tuesday's battle, the two sides will meet on Sunday in Orlando to end the season series.

On Sunday, the Magic lost at home to the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs took a 10- point lead into the final quarter and held on to run the Magic's January record to 2-7.

"We'll continue to work," said Orlando coach Jacque Vaughn. "That's the best part of it, we've got games ahead of us. We'll continue to work and that's our best approach."

Glen Davis paced the Magic with 24 points and Jameer Nelson chipped in 20. Nikola Vucevic registered yet another double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

J.J. Redick and Arron Afflalo both scored in double digits.

The Magic have won three in a row against the Pistons and are 3-2 in their last five in The Palace.
