Bobcats, Timberwolves clash in Charlotte
Jan 26, 2013 - 4:01 PM (Sports Network) - Two struggling teams meet in Charlotte on Saturday night when the Bobcats play host to the Minnesota Timberwolves at Time Warner Cable Arena. The Bobcats have lost eight of their last nine games.
Charlotte has also lost three in a row at home. In fact, the Bobcats haven't won at home since Nov. 21 when they bested the Toronto Raptors by a single point. The home losing streak is at 16 games.
"Frustration is high," admitted head coach Mike Dunlap after Charlotte's most recent loss, a 104-92 setback against the Atlanta Hawks. "Handling that starts behind closed doors."
Ramon Sessions led the way for the Bobcats with 27 points off the bench. Ben Gordon scored 15 in a reserve role and Kemba Walker was the only other Charlotte player in double figures with 11.
The Hawks were without Al Horford, Zaza Pachulia and Devin Harris, but still managed to shoot 48 percent from long range.
Minnesota limps into Saturday's affair having lost three straight and eight of its last nine games.
In a 114-101 setback at Washington Friday evening, Derrick Williams registered 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Wolves. Andrei Kirilenko added 17 points and four boards in the losing effort, Minnesota's sixth in a row on the road.
"We couldn't make enough shots or limit their easy opportunities," Timberwolves acting coach Terry Porter said.
The Wolves are still without forward Kevin Love (hand), guard Brandon Roy (knee), center Nikola Pekovic (quadriceps) and forward Chase Budinger (knee).
Minnesota, which is 6-16 away from the Twin Cities, will begin a six-game homestand Wednesday versus the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Bobcats won the first matchup of the season with the Timberwolves, an 89-87 victory on Nov. 14 in Minnesota. Charlotte has won nine of the last 12 in this series. The Wolves are just 2-6 in the eight meetings at the Bobcats.
