Bucks head to MSG for tangle with Knicks

Feb 1, 2013 - 3:30 PM (Sports Network) - The New York Knicks have played 43 games this season and Carmelo Anthony has led them in scoring in 32 of those. Anthony and the Knicks will resume a five-game homestand Friday versus the Milwaukee Bucks.

Anthony set a franchise record in Wednesday's 113-97 victory over the Orlando Magic, scoring 20 points with seven rebounds and five assists. Anthony has now scored at least 20-plus points in 30 straight games and moved past Richie Guerin, who turned the trick in 29 consecutive contests.

"Any record that you have a chance to go get, or break or tie, that's the fun part," said the All-Star Anthony, who is second in the NBA with 29.1 ppg and needs 26 points for 17,000 in his career. "You have a chance to do something like that, tonight was a chance for me to break the record. It makes it fun out there."

Tyson Chandler added 21 points and seven rebounds, while Amare Stoudemire recorded 14 off the bench. Raymond Felton added 15 points with nine assists for the Atlantic Division-leading Knicks, who have won five of seven games, are 2-0 on the homestand and 16-6 at Madison Square Garden.

New York is 25-6 under coach Mike Woodson at MSG.

Chandler, a defensive stalwart and All-Star, entered the game having grabbed at least 10 boards in nine of the previous 10 games. He did not practice Tuesday because of a balky neck, but it didn't show against Orlando.

J.R. Smith recorded 11 points in a reserve role and has posted double-figures in points in 24 out of his last 27 games.

The Knicks are in the top 10 in both scoring (100.7 ppg) and defense (96.3 ppg) and will also host Sacramento and Detroit on the residency.

Milwaukee was thrown off its track with a recent 104-88 loss to the Chicago Bulls and looks to bounce back in the Big Apple.

The Bucks had won two in a row and eight of 11 games until their loss to the Bulls as Ersan Ilyasova scored 18 points and Brandon Jennings added 15. The Bulls pounded the Bucks for a season-high 66 points in the paint and used a 20-4 run for a 49-30 advantage.

"They played their typical game, they're a big and physical team," Bucks coach Jim Boylan said of the Bulls. "They pound you, they play a physical brand of basketball and it took its toll on us tonight."

Samuel Dalembert had 14 points and 13 rebounds in defeat for a Milwaukee team that committed 19 turnovers, leading to 24 Chicago points. Bucks center Larry Sanders missed the game with an illness and is questionable for Friday. He has blocked at least one shot in 30 straight games.

Milwaukee, which has scored 100-plus points in eight of 12 games under Boylan, is 12-10 away from the Bradley Center this season and will return home after Friday's game for a showdown with Orlando on Saturday. The Bucks are 14-4 in 2012-13 when reaching the century mark in scoring.

The Bucks lost the first meeting with the Knicks, 102-88, back on Nov. 28 in Brew City and will visit Madison Square Garden again April 5. The Knicks have won the last three meetings between the teams, but Milwaukee is 12-5 in the past 17 meetings between the teams.

Milwaukee has won six of its last eight trips to MSG.
