Injury-ravaged Magic head to Milwaukee

Feb 2, 2013 - 4:03 PM (Sports Network) - As if things could get any worse for the Orlando Magic, they lost starting point guard Jameer Nelson to injury Friday night and will take an eight-game losing streak into Milwaukee on Saturday against the Bucks.

Nelson injured his left forearm in a 97-84 loss Friday in Boston. X-rays were negative and his status for Saturday is unknown. Nelson has joined fellow starters Glen Davis and Arron Afflalo on the shelf.

"It's part of basketball and we'll continue to deal with it," said Magic head coach Jacque Vaughn. "It means other guys will have to fill in and fill roles and we'll keep at it."

The Magic got within three late in the third quarter, but the Celtics closed the stanza on a 14-4 run.

"It was unbelievable how we got ourselves back into the game and made it competitive," Vaughn said. "But they made shots and went on a little run and we just couldn't answer back."

Five Orlando players scored in double figures, led by 15 from J.J. Redick.

The Magic haven't won since a home game over the Indiana Pacers on Jan. 16. Saturday's tilt will be the fourth of a five-game road trip that will come to an end on Monday in Philly against the Sixers.

The Bucks come home after a quick trip to Madison Square Garden on Friday night. Milwaukee fell to the Knicks, 96-86, for a second consecutive loss after dropping a 104-88 contest at home to the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday.

The Bucks squandered a six-point halftime lead against the Knicks. Ersan Ilyasova paced the Bucks with 19 points and Monta Ellis, Brandon Jennings and Mike Dunleavy scored in double figures.

"We were trying to find some offense, I thought we had some point-blank looks and shots we've been making," said Bucks coach Jim Boylan. "They just didn't go in tonight, credit the Knicks for getting into us a little bit."

Larry Sanders blocked two shots against the Knicks and ran his streak to 31 straight games with at least one block. He owns the longest active streak in the NBA.

After Saturday's home game with the Magic, the Bucks make a quick trip west, starting Tuesday in Denver against the Nuggets, then in Utah to meet the Jazz the next night.

The Magic swept all four games with Milwaukee last season and has won seven in a row and 10 of the last 11 meetings. Orlando has won three straight and four of its last five in Milwaukee.
