Sixers try to regroup with Bobcats in town

Feb 9, 2013 - 3:59 PM (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia 76ers had a three-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday, but they will try and get back on track Saturday night when they host the Charlotte Bobcats.

The Sixers fell to the Indiana Pacers Wednesday, 88-69. They had beaten the Washington Wizards, Sacramento Kings and Orlando Magic for their first winning streak since late November, but Philly couldn't handle the Pacers.

The starting frontline for Indiana (David West, Roy Hibbert and All-Star Paul George) combined for 48 points, 23 rebounds, eight assists and five blocks, all from Hibbert.

The Sixers' starting frontcourt (Evan Turner, Spencer Hawes and Kwame Brown) tallied eight points, 23 rebounds, eight assists and three blocks, all from Hawes.

Jrue Holiday scored 19 for the Sixers and young big men Lavoy Allen and Arnett Moultrie had 12 apiece, but Turner's play of late has been a bit troubling. He's averaging 5.0 ppg over the last four.

"I don't know," head coach Doug Collins said of Turner. "He's got the ball. He's pushing the ball up the floor. We run an offense that's pretty much equal-opportunity.

"Evan's got to just keep battling. He's got to hit that little mid-range shot, get himself to the free-throw line, be active, rebound the basketball."

Philadelphia learned Friday that veteran guard Jason Richardson (knee) will undergo season-ending surgery. Richardson is in his first season with the Sixers and averaged 10.5 points in 33 games.

Charlotte has lost six in a row and 14 of 16 games, including Friday's 100-93 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Bobcats led 30-20 after the first quarter and 53-41 at halftime, but imploded in the second half.

Byron Mullens had 20 points and 12 rebounds, Gerald Henderson added 20 and 10 boards, and Kemba Walker netted 18 points for the Bobcats.

"We just have to know how to finish out games," Mullens said. "We have to learn how to do that. Up 20, we have to keep going, know what's working."

The Bobcats are just 5-19 on the road and have lost five straight as the guest. They just went winless on a five-game trek from Jan. 28-Feb. 6.

The Sixers, who finish an eight-game homestand on Monday against the Los Angeles Clippers, have won four in a row against the Bobcats and six of seven.

Charlotte is 3-11 all-time at Philadelphia.
