Suddenly streaking Wizards welcome Pistons

Feb 27, 2013 - 3:41 PM (Sports Network) - The Washington Wizards are on a nice roll and will kick off a three-game homestand Wednesday night versus the Detroit Pistons.

The Wizards have won three in row and seven of their last nine games, and handed the Toronto Raptors a 90-84 setback the last time out on Monday. Rookie Bradley Beal had 20 points and six rebounds, while John Wall added 10 points, seven assists and five rebounds in the win.

"He's been so consistent for us over the past two months on bringing it every night on both ends of the floor," Washington guard A.J. Price said of Beal.

Beal is averaging 20.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists in his last six games. Emeka Okafor, who tallied eight points and 13 rebounds against Toronto, is averaging 14.3 points and 10.8 rebounds in his last six games.

Washington will also welcome New York and Philadelphia to D.C. and is 10-2 as the host since early January. Overall, the Wizards own a 13-15 record at the Verizon Center.

Detroit is mired in a three-game losing streak and will begin a three-game road trip Wednesday against Washington, New Orleans and San Antonio.

Last time out, the Pistons fell at home to the Atlanta Hawks, 114-103.

Rodney Stuckey and Jonas Jerebko scored 22 and 21 points, respectively, for the Pistons, while Greg Monroe registered 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Kyle Singler added 13 points in a losing cause.

"We have to get back and put more into the game in order to get the desired result," Pistons coach Lawrence Frank said.

Detroit guard Will Bynum did not play as he was suspended for striking Indiana forward Tyler Hansbrough during Saturday's game against the Pacers. He is eligible to return against the Wizards. Guard Brandon Knight (ankle) is listed as questionable. Knight needs five 3-pointers for 200 in his career.

The Pistons are currently first in the Eastern Conference and tied for second in the NBA in points in the paint with 46.1. A lot of that has to do with Monroe, who has recorded at least 20 points and 10 rebounds 20 times since the 2011-12 season. Monroe is one of only three players that are averaging at least 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists per game.

Detroit is aiming for its first four-game season sweep of the Wizards since the 2009-10 campaign and has won five straight and 13 of the last 15 matchups in this series. The Pistons have also won two straight and five of six visits to the nation's capital.
