Bucks hope to stay on track in meeting with Kings

Mar 10, 2013 - 3:04 PM (Sports Network) - There's still plenty of time left for the Milwaukee Bucks to improve on their playoff status.

Currently eighth in the Eastern Conference standings, the Bucks look to remain on the winning end of games when they conclude a three-game road trip Sunday against the Sacramento Kings.

Milwaukee rebounded from a loss to the Los Angeles Clippers by delivering a 103-93 blow to the Golden State Warriors Saturday night. Brandon Jennings continued his hot play of late with 31 points and 10 assists. He made 6-of-11 3-pointers and has handed out at least 10 assists in four straight games, averaging 14.5 assists per game in that time. He is posting 20.0 ppg over the previous four.

Former Warrior Monta Ellis added 26 points and J.J. Redick had 15 for the Bucks, who have won five of six games and are three games behind Chicago for the fifth spot in the East standings.

"The effort was there on both ends. Guys were really active defensively, chasing down loose balls. Offensively, I thought our execution was good," Bucks coach Jim Boylan said.

Bucks forward Ersan Ilyasova missed the Warriors game with a bruised left knee and is questionable for Sunday.

After visiting the Kings, Milwaukee, which is 15-15 away from home, will play four of five games in front of its home crowd.

Sacramento will resume its three-game homestand Sunday and started the residency with Friday's 121-112 victory over the Phoenix Suns.

Isaiah Thomas led the way with 27 points, six assists and five steals, while Tyreke Evans netted 25 points. Marcus Thornton and DeMarcus Cousins scored 23 and 22 points, respectively, to round out the 20-point scorers for the Kings.

"It was fun," Thornton said of the win. "It makes you want to play when you're sharing the ball."

Thornton's 3-pointer at the end of the third quarter made it 89-82 in Sacramento's favor.

Cousins also pulled down 14 rebounds in the win, helping the Kings end a two- game slide and improve to 16-14 in California's capital. The Kings are in the midst of playing five of six at Sleep Train Arena. Jason Thompson had 12 points in the win and is averaging 16.3 ppg in his last four.

The Kings will host Chicago on Wednesday and dropped a 98-85 decision to the Bucks in Milwaukee on Dec. 12 this season. Jennings scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Bucks. The Kings won last year's only meeting by a 103-100 score on Jan. 5 in Sacramento.
