Grizzlies down Trail Blazers

Mar 13, 2013 - 7:15 AM Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Zach Randolph had 19 points and 10 rebounds as the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Portland Trail Blazers, 102-97, on Tuesday.

Marc Gasol scored a team-high 20 points and Mike Conley had 14 points and 15 assists for the Grizzlies, who have won five straight and 13 of their last 14 games.

"It was a nice win against a very tough ballclub that wouldn't quit," Memphis head coach Lionel Hollins said.

Damian Lillard scored 30 points on 8-of-17 shooting and went a perfect 11- for-11 from the foul line for the Trail Blazers, who have lost three of their last four games. LaMarcus Aldridge registered 28 points and 10 rebounds in the setback.

"They are physical. They play great team defense, play great individual defense. It was a struggle to score all night," Portland head coach Terry Stotts said.

After three quarters, the Grizzlies held a 68-58 lead, but both teams exploded offensively in the fourth.

Aldridge, Lillard and Maynor scored double-digits for Portland in the period, and got within five several times throughout, but Memphis kept its distance.

Maynor made three free throws with two seconds remaining to cut the deficit to 100-97, but Jerryd Bayless drew a foul off Lillard and sank both of his free throws to secure the win.

Entering the second quarter, the game was tied at 21-21. However, Memphis outscored Portland, 27-19, in the frame. Ed Davis was a huge help for the Grizzlies, scoring 10 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting.

At halftime, Memphis led 48-40.

In the third, the Grizzlies extended their lead by as much as 15 points, 66-51, with three minutes to play, while the Trail Blazers recorded just one field goal in the final 5:43 of the half.
