Warriors hand Pistons seventh straight loss

Mar 14, 2013 - 6:26 AM Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Stephen Curry had 31 points and eight assists to help the Golden State Warriors to a 105-97 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday.

David Lee had 20 points, 15 rebounds and five assists while Jarrett Jack added 19 points and five assists for the Warriors, who have won their past two games.

"If we play basketball at the level we're able to, especially our defense, I feel that we are one of the better teams in the league," said Golden State head coach Mark Jackson. "I was very pleased with the way we played tonight."

Rodney Stuckey scored 22 points with five helpers and Kyle Singler added 17 points for the Pistons, who are in the midst of a seven-game losing streak and are 0-3 on a four-game road trip.

Greg Monroe netted 13 points, but shot just 4-of-16 from the field.

"Shooting 4-for-16 can't happen for me. It's not like I'm shooting a lot of jump shots or chucking up threes. I have to do a better job than that," admitted Monroe.

Golden State held a seven-point lead going into the fourth and saw that advantage diminish to three, but an 8-2 run put the team back on top by nine after Lee put in a pair of free throws four minutes in.

The Pistons hung in there, and a Will Bynum jumper made it a 90-86 game with six minutes to play, but Jack hit a bucket and two free throws and Klay Thompson's bucket gave the Warriors a 10-point lead with 4 1/2 minutes left.

Detroit never got closer than six the rest of the way as Golden State improved to 4-2 during a seven-game homestand.

Golden State scored 15 of the first 20 points of the game and took a 28-20 lead into the second quarter, but Detroit opened the second quarter with a 7-0 run and the game went into the halftime break at 50-50.

A 13-4 run by the Warriors in the third helped the team create some space and the team held a 12-point lead late in the frame, but the Pistons scored the final five points of the quarter to make it an 80-73 game after 36 minutes.
