Heat put streak on the line in Boston
Mar 18, 2013 - 2:41 PM (Sports Network) - Miami's 22-game winning streak is impressive, but what's even more astonishing is how the Heat have stayed healthy. The Heat look to keep rolling injury-free when they resume a five-game road trip Monday against the Boston Celtics at TD Garden. They made it 22 straight wins with Sunday's 108-91 victory at Toronto as Dwyane Wade scored 24 points and LeBron James added 22. Ray Allen scored 20 off the bench for the Heat, who haven't lost since Feb. 1 at Indiana.
"It's a special ride right now that we're on and I think the best thing about it is we're doing it together. We're doing it for one another and just want to try to keep it going," James said.
Chris Bosh chipped in 18 points against his former team as the Heat improved to 3-0 on the road swing and have won 10 straight away from South Beach. The last time Miami won 11 in a row on the road was back in 1998.
Miami tied Houston's 22-game run from the 2007-08 campaign and the Los Angeles Lakers are next with a 33-game winning streak from the 1971-72 season.
The Heat, who are 21-11 as the guest and own the best record in the NBA, will close out the road trip Wednesday at Cleveland.
Boston is streaking as well with 11 straight home wins.
The Celtics will close out a three-game homestand Monday and are coming off Saturday's 105-88 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats. Jason Terry had 15 points, while Paul Pierce and Avery Bradley had 14 and 13 points, respectively, for the Celtics, who have won two straight and seven of their last nine.
"I thought second half we ran the ball a lot better, rebounded the ball a lot better, and it provided easy opportunities for us," said Pierce. "So when we play that way, to go along with defensive stops, we're a tough team to beat."
Brandon Bass and Jeff Green scored 10 points apiece in the win. Boston is 24-9 at home and will start a three-game road trip Wednesday at New Orleans.
The Celtics hope to have veteran forward Kevin Garnett Monday night and he is listed as questionable with a left adductor strain. Boston is even with Chicago for the sixth seed in the East.
Boston and Miami have split two meetings this season with each team winning as the host. The Celtics have won 18 of the past 22 meetings with the Heat, who are winless in 10 straight trips to Beantown. Miami's streak could be in jeopardy since it's only 4-14 in the past 18 contests at Boston.
