Wizards, Bobcats clash in Charlotte
Mar 18, 2013 - 2:53 PMVideo
Washington just completed a three-game home sweep and the Wizards have taken four of their last five. They've won five straight at home, but dropped three in a row as the visitor.
They leave D.C. for four straight, starting in Charlotte, then head to Phoenix, Los Angeles to face the Lakers and Golden State.
On Saturday night, the Wizards crushed the Suns, 127-105. They had 102 points after three quarters and it was never really close.
Martell Webster was incredible on Saturday. He netted 34 points on 7-for-10 3- point shooting, 10-for-18 field-goal shooting and 7-for-7 free-throw shooting.
"My teammates kept finding me. I definitely tip my hat to my teammates," said Webster. "They were encouraging me to keep shooting the ball. When you have that backing, it's easy to shoot. You could put anybody in my position and they'd knock down those shots. Fortunately it was me tonight, but it was a great team win and it was fun to be out there playing with these guys."
John Wall had 17 points and 11 assists in the victory. Emeka Okafor also scored 17 points, but he grabbed 10 rebounds. Nene, Garrett Temple and a returning Bradley Beal all scored in double figures.
The Bobcats fell victim to the Boston Celtics on Saturday. The Celtics were looking for some revenge after getting blown out by the Bobcats, 100-74 on Tuesday.
On Saturday, six Celtics scored in double figures and all 11 players that saw action tallied at least five points. The C's shot 52 percent from the field, 67 percent from the 3-point line and cruised to a 105-88 home victory.
"I thought defensively it was pretty disappointing," Charlotte coach Mike Dunlap said on his team's overall performance. "I think we're a better defensive team, we proved that the last time we played them."
Jannero Pargo, playing only his second game for the Bobcats, led the team in scoring with 18 points off the bench. Gerald Henderson scored 16 and Kemba Walker managed 14.
The Wizards have won six of the last eight against the Bobcats, but have dropped six of their last nine in Charlotte.
