Spurs continue home dominance of Warriors
Mar 21, 2013 - 4:28 AM San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - The San Antonio Spurs continued their home dominance of the Golden State Warriors.Tim Duncan had 25 points, 13 rebounds and six assists in the Spurs' 104-93 win over the Warriors.
"(Duncan) shows that he still has it and you have to prepare for him every night. At this point there is no surprise with him. He is professional and one of the best, if not the best," Warriors guard Stephen Curry said of Duncan.
San Antonio downed Golden State in the Alamo City for the 29th straight time. It's the longest active home winning streak for any NBA team against another.
Tiago Splitter added 17 points and seven boards for the Spurs, who are 6-2 since starting point guard Tony Parker went down with a left ankle sprain. Manu Ginobili chipped in 16 points and seven assists off the bench in the triumph.
Curry netted 24 points to lead Golden State, which had won four of its previous five tilts coming in.
The contest was knotted at 22-22 after a quarter of play, but the Spurs began to pull away in the second.
Carl Landry's jumper gave the Warriors a 30-29 edge, but San Antonio countered with a 19-2 run. Stephen Jackson, who had eight of his points during the surge, began and ended it with 3-pointers for a 48-32 Spurs' advantage midway through the frame.
The hosts took a 60-47 lead into the break and a 79-70 advantage into the final frame, where the Warriors were able to cut the deficit to 92-88 with 3:38 left. But three straight buckets by Duncan pushed the margin back into double digits and Golden State never threatened again.
"Timmy has his rhythm back," Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said. "He's in great shape and down the stretch we went through him. Manu and Timmy really decided to do that on their won and they did a great job of it."
